East Race Throwdown Results!

Hey Everyone,

Last Saturday we had a great time at East Race. Those of you who weren’t there missed out!

We started off the festivities with some playboating in rodeo hole

I don’t know why, but everyone was feeling kinda shy and didn’t want to subscribe to a particular group… so there were no “advanced” or “beginner” boaters… just boaters. I guess people wanted to let the scores speak for themselves.  Well, here they are:

Playboating Champs:
1st – Jeff – 59pts
2nd – Kem (“Frogger”) – 45 pts
3rd – Conner – 43pts
4th – Bernie – 39pts
5th – Jason – 34pts
6th – Dan – 33pts
7th – Tim – 21pts
8th – Cory – 20pts
9th – Diana – 14 pts

After some fun in the hole we all hiked up to the top for a free-for-all boatercross (my favorite event).  Things got pretty intense halfway down the course as a skirt got pulled! It was an accident I’m sure ;)   Check out the Video: Boatercross at East Race

Idaho Throwdown #2

TD2_17Yesterday was this seasons opening day for Kelly's Whitewater park and the second Throwdown for Idaho. The weather forecast was bleak with snow expected for the day, however we arrived in cascade with sunny skies and a temp of 36 degrees. We began the day at 8:30 with a fantastic KWP opening-day breakfast of pancakes with awesome berries and sausage - what a way to start the day! Next we had a dedication of the bridge to rock island. It's pretty incredible to watch an entire community back a whitewater park - you gotta love Valley County Idaho! TD2_8The waves were all at a great stage. A bit of tweaking of the top wave has actually directed more water to feature 2 on the far side of the island which will make it even better than last year. We didn't know how many competitors would show up given the forecast and the recent snow, but there ended up being ten of us in all, which included four or five  people new to the Throwdowns. Turned out to be a great group of really nice paddlers of all skill levels.  A few spectators showed up and watched us playing around in the cold water. We ran two hole rides and then held a boater cross that seemed to be a big hit.  Natural features at the park made for a great course.  Surprisingly we had close finishes and everyone had a blast. TD2_11We all went up to the grassy hill afterwards to divvy up the prizes and chat about upcoming events. About ten minutes after we left the snow showed up, but it didn't matter then. turned out to be a great day and we were happy with the weather and waves! We were also treated to a little Red-Bull Booty display as Tanner and Brian had a little bet going as to who would have the best score in the Throwdown. Since Brian had the higher score in the Freestyle and Tanner placed higher in the Boater-X we got a double disgusting show :-P Looking forward to our June Throwdown and WARMER  weather! Scores:

A year in review: 2010 was great 2011 will be even better!

A new season is starting in the Seaway Valley and World Kayak is right there making sure that paddlers will have events to participate in.

2010 was a great year for us and we saw a lot of new paddlers step up to our friendly competitive arena. 2011 will be even better!

3 freestyle events and 3 survivors (Boater-cross format) are what you will see in Valleyfield Quebec at the Riviere St-Charles this year. You will be able to compete , challenge your friend and yourself. For those who wish to step it up a bit more WK is implementing a ranking system (more to come on that program soon).

In the mean time enjoy the short video by Zachary Zwanenburg. The video and the images speak for themselves:
