Welcome to the Charlotte region
The Carlotte region sits within any number of great whitewater destinations. Recently, the Charlotte Whitewater Park opened as the official National Training Center for whitewater athletes and has become a growing whitewater attraction for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. But this region boasts of much more for the paddler. Fortunatly here in the Queen city we are very close to many diffrent types of rivers. We have great access to relaxing less chalanging whitewater. We are also close to some of the most challanging whitewater in the state. Many of the bigger rivers in NC are within about 2 hours of Charlotte. No matter what it is you are lookig for you can find it close to Charlotte.

West Coast Women's White Water Festival Jul 24 08 - Recently, Christina Russell, a professional kayaker from Bend, OR organized the West Coast Women's White Water Festival with the help of Heather Herbeck, a professional kayaker from White Salmon, WA. The event incorporated boater-cross, 8-ball, down-river runs, in addition to yoga classes, a barbeque, video screenings and camping. The event was highly successful attracting about 30 ladies from Oregon, Washington, North Carolina and beyond.
