HTTD this Wednesday!!

Well, time flies and flows have dropped a lot. The next Home Town is scheduled for this Wednesday, and after talking with some local paddlers we have come up with a plan to make for a fun night despite the low flows. Bring your rescue vest, throw rope, and be ready to swim!! It’s going to be hot out so it should be a great night to cool off in the water. The plan is to meet at the Sullivan Hole Parking lot at the end of Old Mission Road in Spokane Valley at 5:30 pm, pair up into teams, and head down to the water for some throw bag and live bait swimmer rescues. Don’t forget to bring your favorite boat for a soul surf session at the Mini-Sullivan wave after we are done swimming. We will have some extra gear available just in case you need a rescue vest or throw bag.

Want to knock the Rust off of that roll?

Does the warm weather have you dreaming about spring runoff and river time? Are you thinking, “I should knock the rust off of my roll”? Last Sunday was the 1st of four open pool roll sessions hosted by the Spokane Canoe and Kayak Club and the Spokane Valley YMCA. There will be three more sessions over the next three weeks.
Sunday March 8th, 6:00pm-7:45pm
Sunday March 15th, 6:00pm-7:45pm
Sunday March 22nd, 6:00pm-7:45pm
All sessions will be hosted at the Spokane Valley YMCA facility and you must be a member. If you are not a club member you can join there. It is a great deal @ $25.00 per family a year.
This is a practice session only, not a class and you must bring your own equipment. This is a grass roots event with plenty of boaters on hand for tips, but there is no formal instruction. These sessions are specific for white water kayaks, but no worries for those with touring kayaks. The next four Sundays starting March 29th, the SCKC and YMCA will be hosting open pool sessions for those with touring kayaks that would like to practice their roll technique.
