Please let us know if you have any interest in being nominated for any of these offices or have an idea for a new office.

We will be having a special guest speaker this year, David Ramsey.  David was instrumental in leading the conservation effort that led to the preservation of the Rocky Fork wilderness area.  The Rocky Fork is a pristine, 10,000 acre tract of mountain forest that straddles the border between Unicoi and Greene counties in Tennessee, along the North Carolina state line.  (It is the area you see to your right as you drive south on Interstate 26 from Johnson City, as you approach Sam’s Gap at the North Carolina state line.)  The Appalachian Trail skirts the southern border of this area for about 12 miles between Jerry Cabin and Hogback Ridge shelters. The Rocky Fork tract adjoins the federally-designated Sampson mountain wilderness area, and is the centerpiece of a prime black-bear habitat area.  It contains the Rocky Fork River and miles of native southern Appalachian brook trout habitat. It has been called the last such undeveloped tract in the east, and is at the center of an area that is comparable to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in terms of beauty and biological diversity. Thanks in large part to David’s efforts the Rocky Fork is in the process of being designated as Tennessee’s 55th state park.  Please join us in listening to David discuss this great local conservation success story.

We will also have some nice door prizes we will be drawing for at the meeting!

Come join us for some food, fun, prizes & fellowship!
